Block Printed fabric

I love to do arty things and get inspired to do DIY stuff all the time but so lazy that i need lots of energy to start some project..even if i start doing something most of the time with some reason i stop in the middle ...hence i have lots and lots of unfinished projects...but thanks to my hubby... he pushes me long way to start up & finish  few arty stuff... So yesterday he gave me deadline of 1 week to make ready a fabric which he can use it on top of grass mat (Dharbe chaape)...it is very auspicious and right way to be seated while performing prayers he says.... but unfortunately its so pricky uncomfortable....
So this gave me oppurtunity to make use of my arty hands and at same time really wanted to finish project very soon as my son is having holidays & he always wants to try his hand & finaly mess the project...so i opted for Block print... which is really easy & quick....

I really thank my Guru of arts....my sister Shilpa... for the wonderful kalamkari wooden block...very sweet of her she really takes pain to search...get the things done...give ideas...teach me... She is my encyclopedia of arts...love you akka...

So now here is the finished block printed fabric.

Well  the process is very simple,....just used  few wooden blocks and applied fabric paint to it with brush and stamp the block on fabric in desired pattern... after an hour of drying it ready to use (to fix color on fabric...iron it on reverse side )
few pictures of project in progress...

finally the picture showing the usage of fabric by my son...he liked it & as always appreciated me (like my Mom )...very sweet of  them...aaahhhh now hope my hubby likes it too...dont know if he wants it to be adhered to mat... neways .what do u guys think..let me know

  3. hey am so glad you have used the blocks, the fabric looks beautiful.....may be you should finish the edges of the fabric using a needle and thread ...think of a red thread to match the print ...might look awesome :) .... u should may be make a set of 6 pcs of this size which you can use on your sofa or chairs ....

Try to use different colors multi color prints as well .....

Wonderful start now you need to mix and match the designs and also try and think what are all the products you can come up with ...have fun....
